About Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty consists of the removal of cartilage, bone and soft tissue to create a more aesthetic nose. This procedure is performed under general anesthesia. Sometimes the nose must be broken so that the bones can be realigned to ensure a straight, narrow bridge. Usually there are no incisions on the outside of the nose, so there is no evident scarring after healing is complete.

Recovery
Recovery depends on the amount of work done and varies based on the patient. Most individuals experience some swelling and bruising for a short period of time. This can be minimized with decreased activity and ice for the first 48 to 72 hours after surgery. Most patients can return to normal activity after one week, although it may take several months for the swelling to completely subside and for the final result to be evident.
