Arm Lift Surgery Clearwater FL

Arm Lift Surgery Clearwater FLAn arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure to reshape the under portion of the upper arm by removing excess skin and fat. This procedure results in smoother skin and a more toned appearance. The results of arm lift surgery are long-lasting as long as patients maintain a healthy weight and fitness.

Is arm lift surgery right for you?

Many people are dissatisfied with the excess skin and fat on their upper arms. Changes in weight, aging, and hereditary factors can cause the upper arms to have a sagging appearance. While exercise can strengthen and tone the upper arm muscles, it cannot fix the skin’s elasticity.

Ideal candidates for an arm lift are:

  • Adults with significant upper arm skin sagging and laxity
  • Adults who are not significantly overweight
  • Healthy adults who do not have serious medical conditions or illnesses

Arm Lift Operation & Recovery

A brachioplasty is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately one to two hours. Incisions are made from the armpit to the elbow and the excess fat and skin is removed. The incisions are then stitched up and the upper arms are tightened. As a result of the procedure, there will be a minimal scar on the inside of the upper arm; however, the incisions are made so that any scarring is hidden as much as possible.

Following the surgery, Dr. Hirschfeld wraps the arms with a special bandage to minimize swelling and stress on the stitches. The bandage remains in place for 3 to 5 days, and afterwards the stitches are removed over a period of two weeks. Most patients are able to return to work with one to two weeks.
